Privacy Policy
How Classics collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
Last updated: 28 August 2026
1. Who We Are
This service is operated by 33Ventures Pty Ltd (ACN 701 999 304, trading as Voiceami) ("we", "us", "our"). We run Classics in Your Voice, a service that lets you record your voice and receive personalised audiobook recordings of classic literature. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
For any privacy question or request, please use our contact form.
2. What We Collect
We collect personal information directly from you when you place an order, record your voice, create an account or contact us — and a small amount automatically when you use the site:
- Your name and email address — to process, confirm and deliver your order, and to sign in to your account.
- Recipient names and email addresses — to deliver a recording you order as a gift.
- Your voice recording and AI voice model — biometric information used to narrate the titles you order. This is "sensitive information" under Australian privacy law and is collected only with your express consent — see Section 3.
- Your consent record — the date and time you ticked the voice-consent box, the version of the consent wording you saw, and the language you read it in.
- Order and payment details — payment is handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
- Loyalty and referral activity — points earned and redeemed on your orders.
- Contact form messages — name, email, and your message.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type and pages requested (kept in short-lived server logs); a push-notification subscription if you enable order updates; and, if a page misbehaves in your browser, an error report — the error message, your browser and device type, the page, and the buttons tapped and requests made just before it — which carries no IP address, account or order and never anything you typed.
3. Your Voice Recording (Biometric Information)
A voice recording used to create an AI voice model is biometric information — the most protected category of personal information under the Privacy Act. We treat it accordingly:
- Express consent first. We only collect a recording after you tick the consent box in the recording step, and we keep a timestamped record of that consent.
- One purpose only. Your recording and voice model are used solely to create AI narrations of the titles you order. We never use them to train AI models, never share or sell them, and will not use them for any other purpose without asking for your fresh consent.
- Your own voice only. You must record your own voice. Do not record or upload another person's voice — we may refuse or cancel orders that appear to use a voice without its owner's consent.
- What we store: your original recording, a noise-cleaned copy, the derived voice-model data used by our audio servers, the narrations we generate, and your consent record.
- Saving your voice is optional. If you save your voice to your account, we keep it so future orders skip re-recording — until you delete it from your account page, which you can do at any time.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To create your AI voice narrations and fulfil your order.
- To send order confirmation, progress and delivery messages by email.
- To operate your account, loyalty points and referral rewards.
- To answer your enquiries and provide support.
- To keep the service secure — fraud and abuse prevention, and bot protection.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
5. Who We Share It With
We disclose personal information only to the service providers who help us run the service, and only what each one needs:
- Stripe — payment processing. We receive a payment confirmation and an order reference only.
- SendGrid — transactional email (order confirmations, delivery links).
- Google — Google Analytics, which measures how the site is used (which pages and features people reach) so we can improve it, and Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces the pages are set in. Analytics data is not linked to your order, your account or your voice recording.
- Microsoft — Microsoft Clarity, which records how our public pages are used (where visitors scroll, tap and click, and where a page confuses people) so we can improve them. Anything you type is masked before it leaves your browser; it runs only on the public pages — never on your order, listening or account pages — and it is not linked to your order, your account or your voice recording. Microsoft may also use this data to improve its own products and services.
- Cloudflare — website delivery, bot protection (Turnstile), and secure storage of generated audio files.
- RunPod — the GPU cloud servers where your voice recording is processed to create your voice model and narrations.
- Anthropic — if you use the library search feature, your search query and the text of passages in your library are processed to rank results. Your voice audio is never sent to Anthropic.
We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law.
6. Overseas Disclosure
Some of the providers above process or store data outside Australia — including in the United States (Stripe, SendGrid, Cloudflare, Google, Microsoft, Anthropic) and in United States or European Union data centres (GPU audio processing and file storage). Before disclosing personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps — contractual and technical — to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Retention and Deletion
- Voice recordings — kept while your order remains active so we can support you and re-generate audio if needed, and (if you saved your voice) until you delete it. You can request deletion at any time.
- Consent records — kept as a record of the consent you gave.
- Generated audio — your download links expire 180 days after delivery, and the files are then removed.
- Order records and contact messages — kept as long as needed for support, accounting and legal compliance.
- Server request logs — kept for around 90 days.
- Backups — deleted data may persist in our secure backups for a limited period before being purged.
8. Security and Data Breaches
All data travels over HTTPS. Voice files and generated audio are stored privately and served only through per-customer, token-protected links. Access to customer data is restricted to authorised staff. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected customers and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
9. Access, Correction and Deletion
You may ask us at any time to:
- Access — receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct — fix inaccurate or out-of-date information.
- Delete — remove your personal information, including your voice recording and voice model.
Use the contact form and include your Order ID where you have one — we respond within 30 days. You can also delete your saved voice yourself from your account page.
10. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first — we take complaints seriously and will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.
11. Cookies and Local Storage
We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to measure how the site is used. Each sets its own cookies and gives your browser a random identifier so we can count visits and see which pages and features are used; Clarity also records how a public page was used — where visitors scroll, tap and click — with anything you type masked before it leaves your browser. We do not use advertising cookies, and we never sell or share your information for advertising. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on, by blocking analytics cookies in your browser, or with a tracker-blocking extension; nothing on the site stops working if you do. Your browser's local storage holds only what the service needs: your order draft, language choice, sign-in session, and your voice-consent tick. Cloudflare Turnstile runs on order pages to block bots and may set its own functional cookie.
12. Children
Our service is intended for adults. A recording of a person under 18 may only be made with the consent and supervision of their parent or guardian. If you believe a child's information was submitted without that consent, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time — the "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be noted on this page.
